Dear Ms. Holly Ross, Thank you for the opportunity to submit comments on the Twin Pines Minerals permit application (SAS-2018-00554). I am concerned about the impact of the project on the environment, and I request that the US Army Corps of Engineers NOT APPROVE the permit until an Environmental Impact Statement has been completed and thoroughly reviewed.
There is not enough information available at this time to prove that the proposed project will not negatively impact nearby water resources (including groundwater, the Okefenokee Swamp, head water streams to the St. Marys River, and the main stem of the St. Marys River.)
I request that the US Army Corps of Engineers require that Twin Pines Minerals complete a thorough Environmental Impact Statement. The USACE needs to have a thorough understanding of the project on which to base their decision.
In addition, the company's proposal to impact over 7,000 linear feet of streams and over 500 acres of wetlands is unacceptable. Boone Creek, in particular needs to be avoided and protected to maintain a healthy river system in the St. Marys River watershed.
