The Satilla Riverkeeper is a member supported, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring and educating about the beautiful and unique Satilla River. The Satilla River is a blackwater coastal river located in Southeast Georgia. The Satilla Riverkeeper headquarters is stationed in Nahunta, GA (Brantley County). We advocate for the right to swimmable, fishable, and drinkable waters for all to enjoy.
We are a small team of motivated individuals working together to fulfill our vision for a Satilla River, its tributaries, and its terrestrial watershed that support healthy fisheries, safe swimming, diverse wildlife populations, superb recreational opportunities, a stable water supply, and sustainable human economic activity throughout the basin.
Part-time Water Quality Program Coordinator: Satilla Riverkeeper seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Water Quality Coordinator to manage our established water quality monitoring program. With the help of citizen scientists, we have been monitoring water quality at multiple sites along the Satilla River since 2014. We regularly monitor for dissolved oxygen levels, pH, conductivity, E. coli, and we recently added microplastics sampling to the program. We also sample other parameters as needed. Through the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream program, the Water Quality Coordinator will train new citizen scientists and facilitate a concerted monitoring effort across the Satilla River.
